Wisconsin Tour Travel Plans

Get Travel Insurance

Due to the possibilities of family issues or illness, job changes, training accidents, and injuries, we strongly suggest travel insurance. This is your refund. Coverage for a variety of situations is available online. If you decide not to get travel insurance, be sure you are aware of and agree with all the terms of the PAC Tour Cancellation Policy.

Arrival by Air

The Wisconsin Tour begins and ends in Beloit, Wisconsin. Beloit is near the crossroads of I-90 going between Chicago and Madison and I-43 coming southeast from Milwaukee. If you are flying to the tour, the Milwaukee Mitchell (MKE) Airport is an hour's drive by rental car. We recommend the Milwaukee Mitchell Airport as the closest and most convenient by rental car.

The Chicago O’Hare (ORD) Airport is two hours away. There is the Van Galder (Coach USA) Bus Service every hour for $40 from Chicago O’Hare to Beloit. This bus does not take bike boxes at peak times if the luggage area is full. In Beloit, a taxi is required to take you from the bus station to the motel.

Bike Shipping

Check with your airlines for bike shipping fees as some airlines have lowered the costs of traveling with your bike.

You can ship your bike box to the PAC Tour office (202 Prairie Pedal Ln Sharon WI, 53585) and we will bring your box to the starting hotel in Beloit and you can arrange for pick up after the tour at our office.

Call UPS or FED-EX and book your own pick-up and delivery. The most popular companies are ShipBikes.com and BikeFlights.com. Also, check out PirateShip.com to save on shipping costs.

When shipping your bike, be sure your bike will arrive by the Thursday before your tour begins. We will let you know when your bike arrives at PAC Tour Headquarters.

Label your bike case clearly with your name. Make sure you track your bike!

Arrival in Beloit

Try to arrive in Beloit as early as possible on the morning of your arrival date. We have an optional, on-your-own ride planned to Sharon, WI, home of PAC Tour and the best local ice cream shop in southern Wisconsin.

You can check in with PAC Tour at the Holiday Inn 3022 Ford St, Beloit, WI 53511 +16085194040 on 7/15/24 Monday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Rooms will be ready after 3 p.m.

Rider Orientation Meeting the Day You Arrive
7:30 to 8:15 PM
A group meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn at 7:30 PM. We will preview the upcoming week and support arrangements.

Parking Your Car

If you are driving to the start of the Wisconsin Tour, you may either park your car at the Holiday Inn Express in Beloit or at PAC Tour Headquarters in Sharon, WI.

If you choose to park in Sharon, you may drive over with your bike and then ride back to Beloit following the On-Your-Own ride.

To pick up your bike from Sharon on the last day of the tour, we will pass through Sharon on our way from Watertown to Beloit and have lunch at PAC Tour HQ. You can load your bike in your car and drive it back to Beloit.

If your car is parked at the Beloit Holiday Inn Express, you need to check with the front desk about the best location for long-term parking. The motel will assume no responsibility for the storage of items or cars in their lot.

Storing Your Bike Case

We will be storing bike cases during the week while we are on the road. If there are too many cases, we may store them at PAC HQ in Sharon. The motel will assume no responsibility for storage, so don’t plan to leave any valuables with your case. Any items you bring on the road with you should fit within the gear bag and computer case size limits.

Gear Bag or Luggage Weight - Must be under 40 lbs.

PAC Tour does not provide gear bags for the Tour of Wisconsin. If you have been on a PAC Tour before you know it is best to limit your gear bag to under 40 pounds. “If you bring it, you move it.” Most non-smoking rooms are upstairs at our hotels. Bring a gear bag you can carry upstairs. Your extra powdered food or energy bars should fit in your gear bag.

Laptop Computers

If you bring a laptop we can transport your computer and case for you in our trailer. Your computer case shouldn’t be larger than 14” x 17” x 5”. Make sure your computer case keeps everything secure inside. Please no purses or backpacks that are more than 5” thick that are serving as a computer case. A hard-shell computer case provides the best protection.

Spare Tubes, Tires, Wheels and Parts

PAC Tour recommends 25mm wide tires for durability and comfort. We will have a good supply of 700c x 25mm front and rear wheels so you won’t need to bring a spare unless you are riding a tandem or a Bike Friday.

If you bring a spare wheel it must have a quick-release skewer so the wheel can be locked on the wheel forks on the van roof. Spare tires should be labeled with your name and then stored in the yellow trailer. Spare parts/tools must fit in your gear bag. Bike Friday bikes should bring 4 tubes and one tire to fit the unique sizes of their bike wheels.

You are responsible for bringing three spare spokes, nipples, and a spoke wrench for your front and back wheels

Arrival Dinner On Your Own

There are several dinner options around the hotel in Beloit. You may opt to take a cab to more diverse dining downtown. If you are arriving after 7:00 PM, Lon will leave specific instructions for you at the front desk along with your rider packet. Please try to attend the rider meeting at 7:30 PM in the breakfast area of the Holiday Inn

Beloit Breakfast and Loading

A buffet breakfast is served: cereal, yogurt, hot foods, rolls, juice, and coffee will be served between 6:30 - 7:30 AM. Between 7:00 - 7:30 AM Bring your bike out first and then bring your gear bag to the motel trailer for loading. We will leave the hotel in small groups starting at 7:30 AM.
