PERU 2007

Traveling to the Iquitos School On an Amazon Riverboat
October 21 - 31, 2007

Delivering Supplies to the Puerto Ocopa Orphanage Over the Andes Mountains
October 31 - November 8, 2007

Since 1999 Lon Haldeman has traveled to Peru during ten different tours. He has visited various areas and learned many things about the culture, history and daily life. Lon wanted to share these experiences with fellow travelers from the United States by organizing two unique tours over the Andes Mountains and to the Amazon Rain Forest.

The theme of these tours is different from most tourist oriented trips to Peru. Besides having a fun, educational and cultural tour, we will also have many rewarding experiences by helping people in the most remote areas of Peru. These tours are run as "Net Cost", which means any extra money raised from these tours after tour expenses is put toward helping the projects we are supporting.

Fund Raising for the Orphanage and School
The GangOur goal will be to contribute $5,000 to each of these projects. Many PAC Tour Alumni have contributed to this fund. The money will be split evenly between the Orphanage and School. The 80 Orphans need basic clothing since each child only owns one set of clothes. A new t-shirt and pants cost about $5. They also need baking supplies like flour, rice, pasta and sugar. Their kitchen can feed 80 children for about $15 per day. The School needs classroom supplies such as paper, text books and learning aids. New books for the library (they own 14 books now) will be added to their collection. Along the way during our travels we will be delivering books to some other jungle schools as part of the Anne Marie McSweeney Book Delivery Project.
