Weather:
The morning was clear and cool - similar
to the last 3 mornings. The sunrise was beautiful.
The temperature climbed to 75 - 80 degree's
by noon and we peeled off our outer layers of clothing at the
second SAG stop.
The afternoon was perfect with minimal
winds and bright sun.

Points of Interest:
The town of "96". At the time
the township was founded the people could not agree on a name.
Since there were 96 people in the town, they decided to call
themselves the town of "96". The town has grown to
exceed 1,000 now but the name remains unchanged.

Highlights:
Waffles for breakfast in the parking lot!!
Donna's (our sister) high potency fudge
continues to provide a high octane fuel source (we have limited
ourselves to 6 pieces per day).
A special thanks to the best sister in
the world for sending us cookies, brownies and fudge.
A special thanks to Marie Drury and Nancy
Drew for their cookies, brownies and banana bread.
A special thanks to Gretchen Young for
sending a scrumptious chocolate chip cake.
And a special thanks to Suzy and Rich
Hollander for sending some amazing, high carbo brownies.

People We Rode With:
Bruce rode with Ed to the first sag stop
as they both nursed minor injuries (Ed - strained quad., Bruce
sore Achilles). After the first SAG, Bruce rode a ways with Pierce.
After the second SAG, Bruce and Frank
teamed up for the rest of the day and "hammered". This
was some of the hardest riding we had done on the trip.
Brian rode off the front the entire day
and added about 8 miles to the day after finding out a turn was
missing from the route card (the route had been changed to avoid
some logging trucks but a left turn was missed). Brian rode behind
Lon in the van who had stopped to ask one of the local yokels
how to get back to Rt. 39. After some difficulty, Lon rerouted
the group. Brian got to carry the spray can to paint turn signals
at the last two turns of the day.
Bruce's total saddle time: 6 hrs. 38 min.

Comments/Quotes:
The group is starting to talk about home
a lot - most people are starting to make lists of "things
to do when I get back".
There is excitement in the air as we head
into the final day!! Most people are glad the tour is almost
over - we need time to recover physically but, more importantly,
we all miss our loved ones at home!!!!
On the last day, we will all wear our
PAC Tour jerseys. For the last 5 miles we will ride as a group
to the ocean in a "double pace line".
Rich got his 17th flat of the trip to
tie the tour record, an honor he did not really want!
