Weather:
Started out at 40 degrees and foggy.
The high for the day was very comfortable,
in the mid 70's with minimal winds

Points of Interest:
Today's ride was the best ride of the
trip. The views were breathtaking as we climbed the mountains.
We rode through the Chattahoochee National Forest.
We had three nice climbs and two other
smaller climbs. Because we are on a tandem the climbs are about
1 mph slower vs. a single bike.

Highlights:
Today was a day of celebration in the
small mountain towns we passed through and many people had yard
sales.
We were able to ride in three states today,
starting out in TN, going through AL and ending up in GA for
the evening.
Our major excitement today came on the
first down hill. While trying to keep the bike down below warp
speed on the descent the rim over heated and warped. This created
a moment of excitement before Leigh was able to get the bike
under control. We let the rim cool down for 5 minutes and trued
the wheel (i.e., tightened up spokes so that the wheel rolls
smoothly) and were on the road again!

People We Rode With:
Team Tandem,
as we are known rode with Peter the crazy Swede, Howie, Dr. Ned
and George.
This group always has something to say
and or joke about.
Today there was not a lot of town signs
to sprint for so Howie got a bit bored (there is a practice of
sprinting to the town sign and the winner is generally hated
by everyone but has a moment of glory!).
